Model Description

Exon 2 of Enpp1 gene was deleted to generate Enpp1 knockout mice.

Validation Data

Fig.1 Radiographic evidence of increased bone mineral density, calcification and bone fusion in Enpp1^−/− mice (30 weeks, male).

Radiographs of Enpp1^-/-mice show incresed bone mineral density and calcification at the joints of the hindlimb compared with wild type(*). Enpp1^-/- mice also exhibit bone fusion at the joints of the hindlimb compared with wild type(#). No abnormality can be detected in Enpp1^+/- mice.

Fig. 2 CT analysis of the dermal sheath of vibrissae in Enpp1^-/- mice.

The CT images of a representative Enpp1^-/- cranium showed calcification of the dermal sheath of vibrissae.

Fig. 3 Alizarin red staining of kidney and heart. Calcium deposits are stained red in the kidneys and hearts of Enpp1^-/- mice, but not in Enpp1^+/+ mice.
